The Advocate Varadachari
Sri.K.Varadachari began practice in Chittoor in 1918. His senior was Diwan Bahadur Sri.B.Muniswamy Naidu. Bollineni Munuswamy Naidu (1885 – 1935) was the Chief Minister of Madras Presidency from October 27, 1930 to November 4, 1932. He was conferred 'Diwan Bahadur' by British Government. Munuswamy Naidu was born in Tiruttani, Madras Presidency in 1885 in a family of agriculturists. He studied law and worked as a lawyer and businessman. He was one of the early members of the Justice Party. Munuswamy Naidu was appointed President of the Justice Party. Munuswamy Naidu served as the President of the Justice Party from 1928 to 1932.
Thereafter Shri.Varadachari started his own practice. He was known to be the best among the lawyers of that time. He was the president of the Chittoor Advocates Association also. Shri.Varadachari always had the photograph of his senior Shri. Muniswamy Naidu in his office.
One of the interesting cases as recollected by his son is a case of murder where Sri.Varadachari was appearing for the accused. The case was that the deceased had died because he was pierced with a sharp branch by the accused.
In the course of cross examination of the Doctor who gave the post mortem report, Sri.Varadachari elicited the admission that the report was a fabricated one. The accused was acquitted by the court.
Another recollected instance is of a partition suit where the client out of his extreme happiness for having won the matter presented Sri.Varadachari with a gold chain of 32 sovereigns (256 grams) apart from his fee.
Sri.Varadachari’s daughter Late Smt.R.Kalyani used to recollect that the clients used to insist on his appearance and they would say that his presence makes all the difference.
Another instance is that Sri.Varadachari had to argue a matter before a British Judge after having undergone a major surgery and the Judge had so much regard for Sri.Varadachari that he insisted that he should sit and argue the matter only wearing a gown.
The photographs of Shri.Varadachari in the Bar Association, chittoor of 1928, 1945 and 1948 indicate his esteemed presence in the Bar Association.
